Ledley King - The Spurs Legend and his Career- 1998 - 2012

King Ledley was a player with a massive knee problem and a lack of training but, that didn't stop him playing football at an extremely high standard!

Spurs career:

The start -

Ledleys debut was away to Anfield in 1999, we lost 3-2. At first, King was used as a midfielder when first started making it into the first team. One special game that got Ledley recognised and made him a  regular first team player was the game when we beat Liverpool in 2000 ! Lesley's first ever goal was also in 2000 and this goal was a special one as it set a record for the quickest Barclays premier goal, it happened in a 3-3 draw with Bradford City.

The Knee Injury -

Ledley was out with a knee problem at the start of the season and he wasn't back into playing until late September, this was costly as Spurs only managed 3 clean sheets out of 59 games without King in the  side ! When King Ledley was back Spurs faced reigning champions Chelsea at home and in this famous game Spurs went onto win 2-1 ( Ledley being captain ) and this was Spurs' first home win against Chelsea since 1987!

Lesley's first honour of his career was when he captained a win over Chelsea in the 2008 league cup final and even better, this happened some months after surgery !

Although Ledley had to miss most premier league games and played just 4, he got some awards at the end of the season!

2010 - the end! -

Everyone now knows Ledley King's injury can't be treated as there is nothing to treat ( no cartilage in his knee ) he has stopped attending training but as he is such an amazing player he still plays when possible, after guiding Tottenham to their highest ever Premier League finish and securing them a spot in the Champions league Fabio Capello gave him a spot in the 2010 World Cup team!

He then signed a two year contract with Spurs meaning he would stay to 2012.

In 2011 a steel statue was erected of Ledley King in Mile End Park!

In 2012, King announced his retirement from football and was said to be one of the best ever defenders to play the game. Arsenal legend Thierry Henry stated " he was the best defender I ever
played against!". In his whole career Ledley King only got eight yellow cards !
