Player Expectations for next year ! (Tom Carroll)

Last year was Tom's first real chance in the first team and boy did he take his chance. He impressed everyone with his passing ability and his ability to control the midfield yet being one of the youngest players on the field. He played a big part in some important goals last year none other than Gareth Bale's against West Ham.

I along with many others are expecting big things from Carroll in the years to come. He has already shown maturity and confidence in his game and his ability to control the midfield is unreal for his age. I expect Carroll to work on his physical ability as he is rather weak but I am sure this will come with age because he still looks like a fourteen year old boy. Unfortunately I don't expect Carroll to get much first team football in the league next year with the competition in the centre midfield position extremely high however I do expect him to appear in many cup games and off the bench. I wouldn't be surprised to see AVB try and loan him out to other Premier League opposition next year and gain some more well needed Premier League experience.

Unfortunately there was no video to show his incredible skill but this is just a little clip too show you just what he is capable of !

Player Expectations for next year ! (Scott Parker)

Scott is a great tackler and is a great holding midfielder who is probably the most determined midfielder in the league. In the 2011/12 season he was our outstanding performer and without him we suffered a great loss however last year with Sandro playing excellently Parker found himself out of the team and losing his form.

Parker is getting on a bit and last year may have been everyones sighter to see where Parker is heading and unfortunately that is down. With his performances going down and Sandro's going up I expect Parker to find himself sitting on the bench a lot next year. To be fair I don't expect Parker to be able to do a lot about it either because the only thing that is keeping him down is his age which has left him less fit which changes Parker's game all together. Another thing that I expect is going to keep him out of the team is Sandro who is just getting better and better.

Player Expectations for next year ! (Tom Huddlestone)

Tom Huddlestone had a lot of game time last year due to injury and in my opinion that was one of the leading factors we didn't get Champions League. Despite him being a good passer of the ball he in my opinion is a terrible midfielder. He is very lazy and clumsy and to me doesn't seem determined enough.

I honestly hope Tom Huddlestone is not a Tottenham player next year as in my opinion he is a terrible midfielder for a team who is aiming for Champions League football and instead he should be in a team trying to stay out of the relegation zone however I expect him to stay in North London and I think AVB likes Huddlestone... unfortunately. But Huddlestone can be a better player, if he can lose some of his timber and become more determined and less lazy he can be a good midfielder because he is a great passer but the way he comes across even if he does lose some timber and become less lazy he will still be a lazy, fat player.

Tottenham Hotspur vs South China Match Review

Spurs took on South China in Hong Kong today in the third and fourth play off for the Barclays Asia Trophy. After a very disappointing semi final against Sunderland AVB lined up a slightly better team of Lloris, Rose, Walker, Dawson, Caulker, Dembele, Parker, Sigurdsson, Dempsey, Lennon and Defoe. This team payed off as Spurs completely humiliated South China in a 6-0 thrashing.

Once again they had to play on a poor pitch but AVB's risky decision of playing a short passing game payed off and Spurs started incredibly brightly and it looked like a different team from the game just a few days ago. Spurs were very impressive all round and in the 12th minute they got what they deserved, a goal. Dembele, Dempsey and Sigurdsson played some lovely football together and played it out wide to Rose who drilled the ball across the box and South China defender Tse knocked it into his own net. Spurs carried on the impressive play with Dembele ruling the play and with Dempsey and Defoe coming very close to scoring our second until on the 33rd minute Defoe took it passed the South China defence and cut it back to Dempsey who side footed it into the bottom right hand corner. Spurs kept the pressure on and in the 44th minute they put the game to bed when Walker drilled his free-kick into the wall and it deflected straight into Defoe's path who slotted home from close range.

The second half began with two Spurs substitutes of Carroll and Naughton on for Dempsey and Walker. Despite Spurs being three up they didn't ease off and in the 53rd minute they went four up when Rose played the ball over the top and the keeper went to clear the ball but it rebounded off of Defoe who ran on to the ball and just had to tap it in. Tottenham then seemed to ease off and made four changes of Townsend, Huddlestone, Livermore and Fryers for Dembele, Lennon, Parker and Rose. Despite easing off Spurs still managed to score on 79 minutes when Defoe got his hat-trick from a perfect through ball from Sigurdsson and he slotted home into the bottom left hand corner. But Spurs still weren't finished and on the 86th minute Townsend scored a great free kick. Lloris had nothing to do the whole game but in the 88th minute he was forced into a great save.

I was really impressed by Spurs' performance this afternoon and to be honest I couldn't fault a player. I was very impressed with Dembele and Carroll in the middle who were pulling the strings in the middle. Walker and Rose were brilliant bombing forward and created numerous problems for the South China defence and finally the Man of the Match, Defoe who scored a great hat-trick and hopefully this is what we are to see in the coming season.

Spurs edits x2

Feel free to use some of these edits and be prepared as there's better ones on the way ! Also  Check our twitter @WorldSportNews3

Player expectations for next year ! (Dembele)

Last year Dembele had a great year in the centre of midfield despite having to play slightly out of position because of injuries. Although he played in a holding position he got forward and weaved through the oppositions defence and he scored some brilliant goals.

I expect Dembele to have another great year at Spurs next year and if its just slightly better than last year then he will be playing unbelievably. I expect that next year Dembele will be playing in a more attacking role with the signing of paulinho and Sandro coming back from injury meaning he doesn't have to fill in the defensive role anymore. The fact that he will be playing in a more attacking role means that he can have more freedom to do what he does best and that is run past players so I expect this to give us another dimension going forward next year and also should get us more goals.

Player expectations for next year ! (Paulinho)

We have recently bought Paulinho from Brazilian outfit Corinthians for £17 million. This guy should be a great signing as not only has proved himself an excellent all round midfielder for Corinthians but he also proved himself for Brazil and ultimately against England.

I expect Paulinho to be one of our best signings yet. Paulinho is an excellent all round midfielder who is strong, a good tackler, good in the air, good passer, good under pressure and ultimately can score a lot. I expect Paulinho to just grow and grow into an excellent midfielder. He has already shown this in the Brazilian league but some critics are not convinced and want to see him perform like that in the Premier League and to be honest I expect Paulinho to completely prove them wrong. I also expect him to perform great in a partnership with Sandro and I expect the two Brazilians to rule the midfield with Sandro bulldozing the attacking players and Paulinho weaving his way passed the defenders.

Player Expectations for next year ! (Sandro)

Sandro got injured half way through last year which kept him out of action for the rest of the year. But for the half year he did play he played very well as a holding midfielder. He is a very physical player or as I would call him a BEAST but not only this he is good going forward and is a good footballer. I you don't agree that he is a beast have a look at this ...

I expect Sandro to have a great year for Spurs next year and I hope he can establish himself up there with the best holding midfielders which I already think he is. I expect him to create a perfect partnership alongside Paulinho. In my opinion Sandro doesn't have much more to work on to establish himself as a great holding midfielder. He is extremely strong, a great reader of the game, good tackling, good shooting and good passing there really is nothing this man cannot do. I expect if he can stay fit for him to be one of the best because the potential in this guy is incredible.

Player expectations for next year ! (Kyle Naughton)

Arguably our second choice for Kyle Walker, Naughton had to play on the left most of the time last year with Benny being injured for a period of time. Naughton showed that he is defensively sound and also has an extremely powerful shot which on many occasions he was very unlucky not to score.

I expect Naughton to have a tough season next year at Spurs, I think he will be our second choice right back. Naughton is good defensively and is a great reader of the game but I feel the one thing he needs to work on is his physical ability. When going shoulder to shoulder with a player last year he frequently lost the battle. I expect Naughton to score a lot next year when he receives his chance because last year he showed everyone that he has a thunderbolt of a shot. Hopefully Naughton does get a good load of chances and he can prove the potential that he has.

Player Expectations for next year ! (Danny Rose)

Danny had a great loan spell at Sunderland last year playing at left back. This guy used to play at left midfield so likes to get forward but he can also defend well too. But what most people know about him is his goal against Arsenal.

I honestly believe that Danny will be our first choice left back next year as Benny Assou-Ekotto is too much of a risk for Spurs next year. Danny is great going forward and can take on any player and whip in a great cross but what I expect Danny to work on next year is his defending. Danny isn't a terrible defender and can defend but only good enough for a team like Sunderland but for a team challenging for Champions League I feel he needs to work on his defending a little. If Danny can improve his defending I think he will become a great left back.

Player expectations for next year ! (Steven Caulker)

Last year Steven got a lot of game time due to many defenders being unavailable and Steven took his chance and showed everyone what a great young centre half he is. Playing against the top teams he showed great maturity and confidence.

I think that Caulker will find it harder to get into the Spurs team next year due to Kaboul becoming fit again. Despite this I think AVB like Caulker and sees the potential in him so I am sure that Caulker will receive plenty of game time next year. I expect Caulker to become a great defender in the coming years with him showing great aerial ability and physical strength. He is a real threat from set pieces at I expect him to score a few more goals next year. One thing I expect him to work on though is his concentration. At times I feel he can switch off and make some silly mistakes that really should be avoided however I'm sure that once he gains a bit more experience he will become a great defender and this guy really is one to look out for in the future.

Player expectations for next year ! (MIchael Dawson)

Michael had to step in a lot last year as many other defenders were out injured but our captain proved everyone that he is still a great defender and a very talkative captain. The commitment Dawson puts into every tackle is unbelievable and he definitely worthy of our captaincy.

I expect Dawson to find it very hard to get into the first team next year with Kaboul and Verthongen being two excellent defenders however as we found out today that Jan is out for 3-4 weeks which gives Dawson the perfect chance to prove himself to AVB. Although it seems set in stone that Dawson will be second choice to Verthongen and Kaboul it is not and is a harder decision for AVB than many people seem to think it is. With Dawson not playing we will gain a better defender in either Kaboul or Verthongen yet we will be losing one of the best leaders in the league and without Dawson on the pitch their is not a real captain on the field. So hopefully we get to see a lot of all three defenders next year.

Player expectations for next year ! (Kaboul)

Unfortunately Kaboul was out for the whole season last year which was a big disappointment for all as everyone was looking forward to see him and Verthongen play together. So this is my expectation for Younes based on past years.

Younes Kaboul is quite simply a BEAST. I mean just look what he posted on Twitter !
This shows the physical strength of Kaboul and just how strong he is. Not only is he physically good he is also very good at defending. I expect him to be a starting player next year and hopefully if Verthongen is fit I think the two will be an unbelievably great partnership. The two defenders have the same sort of style as both like to get forward and ultimately both score a lot so I expect Kaboul to get on the scoresheet a few times next year. I expect Kaboul to be a main target from set pieces and hopefully he loses the habit of giving away a lot of set pieces to the opponent as well.

Player expectations for next year ! (Verthongen)

Super Jan as he is known was one of our best players last year. Unfortunately Jan was injured yesterday in the Barclays Asia Trophy which looked rather serious but hopefully it is nothing to serious and he is able to start the new season.

I expect Jan to start at the back next year and I expect him to work brilliantly in a partnership with Younes Kaboul who was out all of last year. I expect Jan to be just as strong and physical next year. Last year Jan proved that not only did Jan help us a lot with not conceding but he also helped us score a lot last year and he proved that he can score with his feet and for a centre back he is very skilful this was what made him get such a great status in the league. I expect next year he will establish himself as one of the best defenders in the league and he will definitely be a key figure in helping Spurs challenge for top four.

Player expectations for next year ! (Assou-Ekotto)

Benoit is definitely a very interesting character who you will never believe didn't even like football but was good at it so he started playing it. Benoit can have a great game but often makes some dreadful mistakes.

I do not expect Assou-Ekotto to be our first choice left back next year with Danny Rose rising up the ranks and AVB reportedly looking for a new left back. Assou-Ekkoto is a good left back in my opinion but is too much of a risk for a team challenging for Champions league football. If Assou-Ekkoto can cut out his stupid mistakes then I'm sure he will be a very good defender but these mistakes occur to often that I do not expect Benoit to be able to cut out the mistakes.

Player expectations for next year ! (Walker)

I thought that after the 2011/12 season where Walker played excellently, he was rather disappointing last year. He didn't have the worst of seasons but considering he was incredible the year before his poor decision making and sloppy play meant that he didn't have as much of an impact on the team.

I expect Walker to still be our first choice centre back next year despite his poor performances. If Walker can hold himself back more and not push forward to much then he will not have to be under so much pressure when he loses the ball. Despite this I do not think that last year Walker didn't play well because he is a terrible defender I just feel he had a dip in form and last year was a one off and next year he will be back to his good ways.

Player expectations for next year ! (Lloris)

Last year was Hugo Lloris' first year in the Barclays Premier League. He started off rather shaky making a few little mistakes but that poor spell didn't last very long and by the end of the season he was incredible and in my opinion the best goalkeeper in the league.

I expect Hugo to be our no.1 next season and I think that decision will be rather easy for AVB. Lloris was excellent last year and I expect his performances to be even better next year as they were last year. Last year he impressed me the way he was confident, always off his line and therefore was very sharp when the ball was played over the top and he was able to deal with it himself. This is what I thought made him the best and stand out from the crowd, hopefully he also keeps himself just as flexible, as this is what him able to pull of the amazing saves he did. Finally I expect next year Hugo to establish himself as the best keeper in the league and even put his name up there with the best in the world.

Player Expectations for next year (Friedel)

Friedel didn't get much first team football last year due to our new signing Hugo Lloris having some incredible performances. However the year before and off the bench last year Friedel showed that he still is a good goalkeeper depute his age.

Being 42 I don't expect Brad Friedel to be able to play at the top level for to much longer. Despite this Brad is still a great stopper and a great keeper to have on the bench. As shown yesterday in the Barclays Asia Trophy he is still capable of performing some great stops. He has said that he does yoga every day to keep fit and it is obviously showing as he carries on to perform well at the highest level but I'm not to sure how long this yoga can keep him fit for but Brad himself seems very confident that he can carry on playing in the Barclays Premier League and even thinks he will be able to be the oldest player to play in the Barclays Premier League.

Player expectations for next year ! (Gomes)

Last year Gomes had a rather successful loan spell at Hoffenheim until he had to come back due to an injury. However Gomes has been awful playing for spurs over the past few years making more dreadful mistakes than good saves.

I expect Gomes to be a Spurs player come September however in my opinion I hope he isn't. If Gomes could concentrate more then maybe he would cut out the terrible mistakes he makes however one thing I don't expect is to see him able to cut out his mistakes and the second is that even if he does cut out the mistakes I do not expect the fans to forgive him for the mistakes he made in the past. Next year I expect Gomes to struggle to get onto the bench let alone the starting eleven and therefore I expect that in no time he will want out and I'm sure we won't stop him.

Spurs vs Sunderland Match Review Barclays Asia Trophy

Spurs go home early from a very wet Hong Kong after losing 3-1 to Sunderland this afternoon. The semi-final was scheduled for an 11 am start however due to very heavy rain the game was delayed by thirty minutes and the halves were made five minutes shorter. The weather proved a real problem for both sides as many players were falling over, the ball was holdding up in the rain and ultimately many mistakes were made.

The Spurs lineup was Gomes, Walker, Caulker, Dawson, Rose, Huddlestone, Lennon, Parker, Dempsey, Sigurdsson and Adebayor. Meanwhile Sunderland lined up with Mannone, Gardner, Colback, O'Shea, Brown, Cabral, Larsson, Johnson, Giaccherini, Sessegnon and Altidore. The first 25 minutes were very even with Dawson making some excellent defensive challenges but neither team really troubled either goalkeeper. However in the 28th minute Spurs broke the deadlock with a Gylfi Sigurdsson shot that was deflected in. But Spurs' lead didn't last long and with Huddlestone making a mistake in the wet Sunderland's new signing Cabral went through one on one and slotted home the equaliser. From the start of the second half it all went downhill for Spurs when in the 48th minute Jan Verthongen had to be stretchered of with what looked like a serious injury. Despite Spurs being the better side Sunderland went 2-1 up when poor defending gave Wes Brown a free header from a corner. Spurs then looked like they had dropped their heads with Friedel pulling of some amazing saves to keep us in the game but in the last minute David Moberg Karlsson went through one on one from a counter attack to slot home Sunderland's third which ended the contest.

Sunderland looked much sharper than Spurs and although many players were missing and the conditions were bad I thought Spurs looked very poor and I am just happy that there is still plenty of time to improve before the new season starts. Despite this some players impressed like Dawson who played excellently and Friedel who pulled of some amazing saves to keep us in the game. Hopefully Verthongen's injury is nothing to serious and now Spurs can return to North London for some more well needed pre season training.

Spurs have reportedly signed Soldado ... But who is he ?

According to reports Baldini has agreed a deal for Roberto Soldado this afternoon however nothing is official of yet. This is arguably our second choice striker behind Christian Benteke who signed a new four year deal with Aston Villa. So who is Roberto Soldado?

He joined Real Madrid when he was just 15 and played in the B team. While playing for the B team he was seen as a future star, scoring 64 goals in 120 appearances. He was given his first call up to the 1st team in 2005 where he was wasted and given just 16 appearances in 3 years. In 2008 Soldado transfered to Getafe for €4 million and there he scored 29 goals in 60 appearances. However his time at Getafe was short lived and just 2 years later in 2010 he moved to Valencia for €10 million. He has proved himself a clinical striker at Valencia scoring 59 goals in 101 appearances which is well over a goal every other game. Not only having a great club career he has also had a great International career. He has played for Spain at every level scoring 32 goals in 52 appearances which once again is more than a goal every other game.

In my opinion Soldado would be a great signing for Spurs. The stats speak for themselves showing that he is an incredibly clinical finisher who is guaranteed to score goals and in my opinion would be a better signing than Christian Benteke. There is however one problem with him and that is his age. He is 28 and has probably finished his peak but that doesn't mean he cannot still score with Zola being a perfect example of an old aged striker who could still score in the Premier League. Hopefully this deal is wrapped up soon.

Spurs look very close to signing Roberto Soldado

Baldini travelled to Valencia this afternoon to discuss a possible move for Soldado and he has proven that he doesn't waste any time getting anything done.

It is believed that we have agreed personal terms with Soldado of £3.5 million a season meanwhile a deal is close. Valencia are apparently asking for €30 million however Spurs have offered €26 million plus €4 million add ons.  The Valencia board are expected to accept this deal and hopefully the transfer will be completed by tommorow. In my opinion the sooner Soldado is a yido the better.

What will our new signings do for the club ?

Yesterday Spurs announced their second signing of the summer, Nacer Chadli. I was thinking "well why is AVB bringing in a midfielder and a winger even though we desperately need a striker ?" Then I realised why he has and this is what the two will do for us.

Paulinho is a great midfielder who can push forward and score many goals however as long as scoring goals he also provides something else. Last year Dembele was forced to restrict himself from going forward due to him not having anyone behind him to cover however with Paulinho it gives Dembele more freedom to attack and vice versa which means that Spurs will have more attacking options therefore more goals will be scored.

Chadli on the other hand is a completely different player to Paulinho but in effect will have the same sort of job next year. With AVB preferring Bale through the middle we had no one out wide on the left. With Sigurdsson or Dempsey there was no real pace and therefore all of Tottenham's play last year was down the left or through the middle. But with Chadli it gives another option. His pace will mean that defenders will find it harder to stick three players on Bale but also it gives Spurs another attacking option and balances the pace through the pitch. Not only does the signing of Chadli mean that Bale will score more it also means that we have another goalscorer. Chadli is able to create plenty of goals but also able to score them with last year him scoring 27 goals all competitions.

These signings do not mean we don't need a striker which is why Franco Baldini is in Valencia now to have talks over the possible signing of Roberto Soldado. Hopefully we can wrap up the signing of him quick and then for sure we will be able to score tons of goals without having to rely solely on Gareth Bale.

Tottenham Hotspur news today 22/07/13

Tottenham are looking at a double striker swoop of Loic Remy and Roberto Soldado

Spurs have signed Nacer Chadli of FC Twente for a fee around €7 million. The Belgium International looks a great signing who cannot only create goals but also score goals.

Spurs are to offer cash plus a player for Wigan's James McCarthy who Wigan value at £20 million.

Spurs have been told that they have up to the 3rd of August to complete the transfer of Roberto Soldado otherwise he will stay with Valencia.

After completing the signing of Chadli, AVB said he is still not finished in terms of transfers and would like to add a few more players to his squad.

Spurs All-Time XI - Strikers - Ft. Youtube Clips

Jimmy Greaves

Between 1961 and 1970, he scored 266 goals in 380 games for Spurs. There has been many great strikers for Spurs and Jimmy Greaves is one of the lazier of these players but he was the best goalscorer at Spurs and that was all he ever done ! Danny Blanchflower ( captain at the time ) said players used to say to him "all Greaves does is score" and Blanchflower would reply with "is that not the point of a striker".

Watch this clip of Greaves to see all his best goals...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=docY5CRWqGc

Teddy Sherringham

Teddy Sherringham is a legend to Spurs, Man United and England ! He was a world class striker and the main reason I have put Sherringham ahead of the other legendary strikers is for his terrific 38 goal season !

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQR2-XWW2AI

We have signed Nacer Chadli !

Tottenham have agreed a deal with FC Twente to sign Nacer Chadli.

It had been reported for a number of days now that the two clubs had been in talks over a fee for the Belgium international.

They have now reached an agreement and the 23-year-old will officially become a Spurs player once he has passed a series of medical examinations and settled on personal terms.

Once those details have been finalised, Chadli will link up with his new Tottenham teammates in Hong Kong.

Spurs have paid around 7 million euros to sign him and looking at him on youtube he looks like a great player; Last season he was injury prone but a great player with power and vision!

You must watch this clip!!
