Spurs ahead of kick off !

Etienne Capoue returns to the Tottenham Hotspur line-up in the Europa League today after returning from injury.
The French midfielder, who joined the club in the summer, sprained his ankle in the defeat to Arsenal at the beginning of September and returns to the team for the visit of FC Sheriff in the Europa League on Thursday night.
Under-fire club record signing Erik Lamela is also included as is striker Jermain Defoe. Goalkeeper Brad Friedel is also in the starting line-up as number one stopper Hugo Lloris recovers from the much publicised head injury he picked up in last Sunday’s draw at Everton.
On Jan Vertonghen and Kyle Walker are survivors from that game as boss Andre Villas-Boas looks to rotate his squad ahead of the Premier League game against Newcastle at the weekend.

Spurs starting XI: Friedel, Naughton, Walker, Kaboul, Vertonghen, Dembele, Capoue, Eriksson, Lamela, Sigurdsson, Defoe

Quotes

Here are some quotes from headway charity regarding the Hugo Lloris concussion incident in the goal less draw with Everton yesterday.

"By continuing to play, the player may have caused greater damage to his brain.
"He should have been removed from the game immediately and taken to hospital for thorough tests and observation

What happened you may ask?

Hugo Lloris was injured in a collision with Romelu Lukaku that left him prone and apparently unconscious.
With his team-mates clearly disturbed, Tottenham’s medical staff rushed to the goalkeeper and decided that he was not fit to continue.
After receiving nine minutes of treatment, however, Lloris defied club doctor Shabaaz Mughal and captain Michael Dawson, both of whom pleaded with him to leave the field, and stayed on.
The French international was praised after the game by manager Andre Villas-Boas for his attitude, but the decision was described as "irresponsible" by brain injury charity Headway.
A spokesman for the charity said: "We are hugely concerned that a professional football club should take such an irresponsible and cavalier attitude to a player's health.

Jan Vertonghen

Jan Vertonghen expresses his desire to play at centre-back instead of left-back and that he feels like a stopgap.

Arsenal to join us in the race to sign Alexandre Pato.
